A friend is being charged with leaving the gas on in our flat, he's asked me to say I left it on in error?

Is it illegal to leave the gas on in error?
Answer:
There is no such offence in the UK.

I can see a number of other serious charges though such as attempting to cause explosions, attempted murder etc.

Do not cover up for this person as it sounds as if the motives here are much more serious and sinister than you have been told by the suspect.

If you do, you may be charged as an accessory, which is very serious, or attempting to pervert the course of justice which is equally as serious. Both can carry heavy terms of imprisonment.

Think very carefully before you act.

Good luck
they are gonna throw away the f/uckin key
er, let' s think...

...what the fookin hell was your friend thinking about, you all could have died, its poisonous!!! what a cretin...
I dont think it is illegal to leave the gas on i.e your central heating boiler runs on gas and thats on whether you are in or out but you could say it was a genuine mistake we are not all perfect are we?
It's not illegal, just a stupid and idiotic thing to do!!
DO NOT, under any circumstances, take the wrap though. He should be big enough to take the heat himself!
if the gas has been left on, then some one has to pay for it...
You can't say it leaked?
How does that work...?

'Yeah sorry for nearly killing you mate do you mind if you take the blame?'

He's a keeper isnt he.
Let's think......... You could say No... but then he might ask you again.. and.. you'd have to post another message on here to ask what to do... and.. You're right this is a bloody predicament! Looks like you just might need to take the rap and do the time.
I do hope you learn a lesson from this and prison life teaches you to choose nicer flatmates/ cellmates in future.
no, it's not illegal in law so there's nothing you can be charged with by teh police, but your landlord will probably say it's a breach of your tenancy contract. Why are you taking the blame for something your friend did?
Eh? As far as I know there is no offence of "leaving the gas on"!

What is he actually being charged with?

A friend inherited a house which was then sold. She says she has no money. How can the cash be located?

The person involved is about 80 years old, widowed and suffering from acute memory loss. It would seem that the cash from the sale was invested in some way. I can only think that the people in the know would be an estate agent and/or solicitor (if we knew who they were).
Answer:
Did the executor of the estate that she inherited from sell the house? If so, then they have to account for where the funds went.
Due to her advanced age, did she give someone else power of attorney on her behalf? They may have access to her money, and may have "invested" it in something that is not in the best interest of this woman.
Your country court has records which reflect both parties to this sale.

I suggest that you check the Property Records there and ascertain which party represented the seller in this matter and then go on from there.
Try land registry, they might have the new owners and you could possibly trace the estate agents or solicitors from there. You could also go to the house and make some enquiries there. Good luck.
Thes best way to go is to start from the sale. First, the real estate agent that list the property. She should know something. If no agent involved, then the buyers. Buyers should know whose they paid the money to or accepting the money on behalf of your friend. I think the easiest of all is to talk to the buyers, because they must be the current owner and it is the easiest person to locate. Once you know who present at the closing of the sale of the property, you can find out the person accepting the check.

The other person you should ask, if you can find out, the Lawyer who handle the transfer of the property. He or she should know the people at the closing. If not, the lawyer should have records and documents of the transaction. In your case, your want a copy of the cancel check written out to the seller. Once you have a copy of the cancel check, you can see in the back the bank or place where it was deposited or cashed. You then go to the bank and ask for the account records. From the bank account records, you should be able to trace the money. You can also find out from the account the name of the customdians, trustees or the person authorized to write check for your friend. Once you do all this, you should be able to find out what happen to the cash.

It is a little work, but you can do it. You can go either way. Start with the buyer is the best. He or she can tell you the lawyer, the real estate agent, the buyer agents, or any one that involved. Ussually, buyer have a good memories of the eintre transaction of the property. Because after all, this was their bigest investment.

Good luck!
If the buyer is living there, I'd go talk with them first. They know exactly who took their money. How many close relatives or "FRIENDS" were around her at the time of the sale. I've worked in nursing homes before and some people will have you chasing things that aren't moving, not on purpose mind you, but memory plays some nasty tricks on people. I do hope you figure it out though. Check with area banks to see if she opened an account or rented a safe deposit box. Hope it's paid up if she does. Good luck.
Trace from the title agency that handled the closing. A check was issued for the house - go from there.
If the person isn't dead then your friend hasn't inherited the house.

But otherwise, as the person above said the executor must account for every little penny of the estate.

A friend in Tulsa has been referred to an attorney, Mike R. Green. Does anyone know anything about Mr. Green?

My friend has had an on-the-job injury, and someone at his plant said he heard about this attorney. My friend is sometimes easily taken in, so I would want him to find someone honest to represent him.

I think the common term for PI attorneys is "ambulance chaser". How would you go about judging an honest attorney? Call and ask? :P

Nope, sure don't. Check him out with Martindale-Hubbell. It's an international directory of attorneys, and will tell you if that attorney is in good standing with the bar association.
Don't know who that is, but I know Sharma Law Firm is a good firm in Tulsa. Ph # 918-398-0327 if interested.
Most states have a Attorney Referral Service. it may worth a shot. Good Luck !!
You may want to try a small law firm because you get more personal service. Also, you need to treat an attorney as you would an employee, interview them. There are some attorneys who are willing to cut the percentage of the fees they will charge you and want to make sure that the client makes more that they do since it was the client that got hurt. I know I work for a caring attorney, but bottom line it pays to shop around and be selective. Don't let them pressure you into settling before you have reached maximum medical improvement.

A friend had a positve drug test 2yrs ago and it was recently made public by a co-worker, what can he do?

The statement by the co-worker was written in a public log book they use at work. My friend was on probation and has been back to work for 2yrs, with no more positive drug test, so isn't this slander as well as invasion of privacy?
Answer:
sounds like a HIPPA violation to me.
No, since its the truth. Also most companies do keep records of that in case the employee has to be let go in the future for the same offense. I am in the transportation industry and if a driver fails one we are required by law to tell every prospective employer that calls for a reference that the driver failed. Maybe he could talk to his boss about getting rid of that at some point but I doubt it. Part of the reason we as managers keep track of stuff like that is so the employee cannot fight for unemployment if ever let go for a repeating offense. Every time I speak to an employee about attendance or time off or any problem, I write it down and keep it in their file. That is protection for me so he can never come back and say he wasn't aware.
HIPPA relates to health care institutions. Do your friend disclose the information only to a health care worker who later disclosed the information? If so, then the health care worker/entity will be subject to fines for disclosing the information.

If not, how did the person find out about the drug test results.
Slander is spoken word that is false. Libel is written word that is false. The truth is an ABSOLUTE defense to slander and libel. Furthermore, the 1st amendment protects our right to say whatever we want within certain guidelines.

To say whether or not your friend has a cause of action, would really depend upon what all took place and ALL the facts. No one can offer legal advice on only a few facts.
my first thought is where did this person get the information? my second thought is ok challenge the person to have a drug screen with you on that day in front of everyone ask them.

if this information was leaked by the company you can sue them for not keeping sensitive information confidential.

you could even sue the person who made this information known but that would depend on what they said. if they said you were a drug user 2 years ago and you are still an addict that is technically true. if they say you were a drug user 2 years ago and are still a drug user that could be proven wrong easily and you can sue them easily.
No Slander is a lie...if he posted something that is true it is not slander or libel....you may say its invasion of privacy but that is not a strong claim
Depends on how the other person found out about the drug test. If he is on probation and is required to follow the typical probation/parole prodacal then it can be considered public record. Though typically results of UA's are not public notice unless your friend was charged with a PV (probation violation) which makes it public record. Any and all criminal information in public record. If you live in a county where it's easily accessable then this will be a common to find out. For example the county I live in, they have 7 computers for free/public use at the court house. Anyone who has ever gotten a ticket, or been charged (not necessary even have to be conficted, if they are even arrested) then it is public record. I could go in and type anyone's name in and it will give me a list and details of any charge/arrest/or ticket given to that person.
If this is something your county has, then it would be very easy to find this information out and no law has been broken.
I would advise your friend however go to their supervisor and complain that he feels he is being harrassed.
Good luck!
Drug Testing And Other Possible Conditions Of Employment
_

While some may consider drug testing, credit checks, reference checks, and other pre-employment checks to be Gestapo tactics, they are a requirement for many companies. And, yes, in most cases they are legal. Remember that little section of legalese at the end of the employment application you didn’t really read? Your signature on that document is what gives them the right. So be ready to live up to the terms to which you have already agreed. By the way, if you look closely at your acceptance letter, you may notice that the offer is contingent on you passing whatever pre-employment checks and/or tests they may have. Even if it isn’t in the letter, it was probably contained within the application you signed earlier. Most employers consider these tests to be “conditions of employment,” and these conditions can be in effect even after you have started with the company.

An example of this “condition of employment” clause being invoked occurred when a recently hired grad was found to have lied about some information on the employment application. There have been numerous cases of graduates who have been hired and then fired by the new employer based solely on the conditions of that document. As long as you have been straight and honest, this should not be a problem for you.

On the other hand, the pre-employment check that many college students fear most is the pre-employment drug screening—and rightly so. A strong note of caution: if you have in the past or are presently using illegal drugs, you are strongly advised to stop using them—immediately! The day before—or even the week before—the test will likely be too late to achieve “clean” results. But if you make a commitment to steer clear far enough in advance, you may give your body enough time to detoxify and flush out. While many substances can clear in under a week, there are some that will stay with you much longer. I recently spoke with a graduate who had accepted employment, only to fail the drug test. Reason? He had used marijuana thirty-one days before the drug test—and failed.

There is no simple answer as to how long drugs will remain in your system, since the answer is influenced by the specific drug half-life, intensity of the usage, method of usage, length of usage, tolerance, fluid intake, body size, body fat, metabolism, andthe specific range which the drug testing lab uses to signify a “positive” for drug use. But the following table provides some general guidelines for the amount of time a drug can be detected by most standard drug tests:
Drug Detection Time
Alcohol 6–24 hours
Amphetamines 2–3 days
Barbituates 1 day to 3 weeks
Benzodiazepines 3–7 days
Cocaine 2–5 days
Codeine 3–5 days
Euphorics (MDMA, Ecstasy) 1–3 days
LSD 1-4 days
Marijuana (THC) 7–30 days
Methadone 3–5 days
Methaqualone 14 days
Opiates 1-4 days
Phencyclidine (PCP) 2–4 days
Steroids (anabolic) 14–30 days

Keep in mind that detection time listed above does not mean that the drug is fully expelled from your body within that amount of time—just that it has dissipated enough that it can no longer be accurately detected—or at least is not high enough to register a “positive” on a drug test. Most drugs are treated by the body as toxins which take time to eliminate. Rather than allow excess toxins to potentially affect vital organs, they are often stored in fat cells, making them typically difficult to release or detoxify from the body.

The basic drug test used by most corporate drug testing programs is called a “Five-Screen” (or “NIDA-5” or “SAMHSA-5”) which is testing for five types of drugs:

1. Cannabinoids (Marijuana, Hashish)
2. Cocaine (Cocaine, Crack, Benzoylecognine)
3. Opiates (Heroin, Opium, Codeine, Morphine)
4. Amphetamines (Amphetamines, Methamphetamines, Speed)
5. Phencyclidine (PCP, Angel Dust)

However, many drug testing firms now offer a “Ten-Screen” which expands to include five additional drugs:

1. Barbituates (Phenobarbital, Secobarbitol, Pentobarbital, Butalbital, Amobarbital)
2. Methaqualone (Qualuudes)
3. Benzodiazepines (Tranquilizers-Diazepam, Valium, Librium, Ativan, Xanax, Clonopin, Serax, Halcion, Rohypnol)
4. Methadone
5. Propoxyphene (Darvon compounds)

One major drug testing company is now offering the Ten-Screen for the same price as the Five-Screen. Result? Many employers end up testing for more, rather than less. Here is a list of other drugs that can be included in drug tests.

1. Ethanol (yes, that’s alcohol)
2. LSD
3. Hallucinogens (Psilocybin, Mescaline, MDMA, MDA, MDE)
4. Inhalents (Toluene, Xylene, Benzene)

If there is a drug out there, there is a drug test for it.

How about one more thing to worry about? Second-hand smoke from marijuana and crack cocaine can be absorbed into your hair. Problem? Some companies are now using hair testing to determine drug usage. Answer? Don’t even hang around others who are doing drugs. It can still be absorbed into your system and produce a positive test result. “I didn’t inhale . . .” is not a valid response. And sufficient second-hand smoke exposure can also cause failure of standard urine drug tests. You could fail both a primary and secondary test, with no recourse other than saying that it was someone else. It’s just not worth the risk.

So if you have been exposed to illegal drugs, your best insurance for a clean drug test is to stop using them immediately. And not just temporarily—permanently. Drug test or no drug test, using illegal drugs (and excesses of alcohol) will eventually catch up with you—sooner (if you are foolish enough to use them during work hours) or later (if you obliterate the rest of your life outside work).

Please note: this is not a lecture from Mom and Dad on the evils of drugs. This is a straightforward and honest warning from someone who has seen the negative effects that drugs can have in the workplace. Drugs have no place in work society today and never will.

If you are not a drug user and you fail the drug screening (it does happen), be as straightforward with the employer as possible, let them know that you are not a drug user and ask them if they would please do a confirmation test. Recent estimates from the Journal of Analytic Toxicology showed error rates of 5 to 14 percent on this initial test. The following is a list of over-the-counter medications which have been known to cause false positives in drug testing:

* Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
* Midol
* Nuprin
* Sudafed
* Vicks Nasal Spray
* Neosynephren
* Ephedra and Ephedrine-based products (often used in diet products)
* Detromethorphan
* Vicks 44

There are more, but suffice to say that not every drug test is accurate. That’s why almost all drug testing companies ask you in advance what medications you are presently taking or have taken in the last thirty days. Make sure you list them all, even over-the-counter medications. Some drug testing companies will either have a doctor (or other medical professional) personally interview those who fail a drug test to determine if there was a potential false positive.

If you do receive a failing grade (actually referred to as a “positive” on your drug test—this is one test you do NOT want a positive—you want all negatives) on your drug test, ask to be retested with a confirmation or secondary test. Many employers do not automatically perform the confirmation test since it is significantly more expensive than the initial test. However, if they are unwilling to offer retesting due to the expense, offer to pay the expense on your own and then use a different testing service—ideally a secondary testing provider recommended by the employer so that you won’t have a credibility problem with the second test. If you are turned down in your request or you have additional problems, you may want to seek the advice of a competent attorney for further counsel on your available options

A former employer is spreading lies about me what are my legal rights?

he has been calling my present employer and trying to get me fired. He has already cost me one job.
Answer:
Um sue him/ the company in which he works. This is called blacklisting, and you can have him sued up the yin yang. Id let the fu--er know too, that blacklisting is illegal and you plan on taking legal actions. then just hang up. Id seriously sue though, even after the call..
take him to court
Call around and find an attorney that will give you a free consultation. He will know exactly what to do that's what they get paid for , but make sure you've got some dough. You'll probably be taking him to court for slander.
You need to hire a lawyer to write him a letter telling him that you will consider anything further as slander and you will take him to court. You could already file suit since he cost you one job already.
Take legal advice. Everyone has a right to their good name.
get concrete evidence then sue for difamation
If they are lies, you can sue. Heck, you can sue for libel if they are true. Unfortunately, unless your lawyer is bigger and badder than his lawyer, you'll only be wasting your money.

I'd suggest a face to face meeting and try to get to the bottom of it. Barring that, get a lawyer, but you'll likely be wasting your money.
Join the club. I'm surprised he hasn't turned you in as a terrorist, or bomber of some kind. Wait till they get on the net and accuse you of heinous crimes against the children and women. Poison pen campaigns are almost impossible to stop cause it's all down second hand. It'll drive you nuts. Be sure you have some money saved up, and remember you ain't got no friends. Everybody will swoop down on you like your a dead pig in a vulture parade. Just like the song, kick em when they're up, kick em when they're down. Don't be surprised if your ex's get in on it, and your current, and your old pals where you used to work. Look out for old in-laws too.

A foreign man dies and owns a land in Germany does his wife inhert him only if so what about the children?

If the wife sells it without telling the children except one or two of them what then. The peice of land was in Heidelberg.
Answer:
Well, it depends on whether or not the man had a will (which it seems from your question he did not), and if not, the law of intestate succession where he was a legal resident. It also may depend, according to where he lived, on whether or not the property was community property or the man's wholly separate property.

In my jurisdiction, for example, if a person dies without a will, and leaves a spouse and children living, the general rule is that a living spouse gets all the community property, and shares the separate property with the children.

If the wife disposed of property to which the children had some legal right, they may have a cause of action against the wife. They should consult a lawyer.
Why would she have to account to the children what she does with her property ? I assume there was a will and she has survivor rights. Tell those greedy kids to go earn their own money for land and be supportive of a wife who just lost a spouse .
Funny how they always remember the parent that died and pay little attention when they are alive .

A few years ago the california gov passed some kind of law about teaching english?

in the classroom to non english speaking students.something like they have one year to learn the language and there are no bi-lingual classes. does anyone know the specifics about this or what it's called? i'm curious. thanks in advance.
i don't know if this was the right category to ask from but, i thought i'd take the chance.
Answer:
I think this is what you are looking for: California Education Code section 305, adopted following the passage of Proposition 227 in 1998. The statute looks like it's still good law. Here's how it reads:

Subject to the exceptions provided in Article 3 (commencing with Section 310), all children in California public schools shall be taught English by being taught in English. In particular, this shall require that all children be placed in English language classrooms. Children who are English learners shall be educated through sheltered English immersion during a temporary transition period not normally intended to exceed one year. Local schools shall be permitted to place in the same classroom English learners of different ages but whose degree of English proficiency is similar. Local schools shall be encouraged to mix together in the same classroom English learners from different native-language groups but with the same degree of English fluency. Once English learners have acquired a good working knowledge of English, they shall be transferred to English language mainstream classrooms. As much as possible, current supplemental funding for English learners shall be maintained, subject to possible modification under Article 8 (commencing with Section 335) below.

Hope this helps!
Emersion is the best way to learn a language. If you were to go live in Japan, for example, do you think they would bend over backwards to make special classes for you in English? I don't think so. You would learn Japanese. When one MUST learn a language it is amazing how fast they can learn. That is especially true of kids.

My maternal grandfather was born of Canadian French parents. While he was born in the US his parents spoke only French to him and his brothers. They died when he was only 7 years old. He went into an Catholic orphanage where the nuns refused to speak French to them. It was amazing, according to him, how after their first day of whining and carrying on in French that they were able to learn English and very quickly. Of course had there been a real problem and someone needed to speak to them in French there were some nuns who could but they were in America and so they spoke English. I wish those coming across our Southern border would learn English instead of expecting everyone else to learn Spanish.

A few questions on the Patriot Act...?

I'm working on an essay, and I wanted to get a few facts straight on this.

Since its last reauthorization on March 9, 2006, when will the act expire?

Does it violate any parts of the Constitution other than the Fifth Amendment? If so, which?

Thanks.
Answer:
The Patriot Act, actually violates almost all the Constitution. The fact that they can hold you in custody with out any warrent, the fact they can invade your privacy with out cause. The USA was supposed to be a place to escape goverments that took the rights of the people away, yet now 200ish years later were in the same deal as our forfathers. The goverment can and does things with out the peoples vote. Yet the government is supposed to be made up by the people, for the people.
It violates our first amendment rights to a free press. They are not allowed to show pictures of coffins of our dead soldiers, are not permitted to publish other war facts. The fourth amendment is violated by unreasonable search and seizure, the right to be secure in our personal papers, effects etc, Amendment six is violated, speedy and PUBLIC trial. the right to counsel and defense etc Amendment seven is violated, trial by jury. Amendment eight is violated, cruel and unusual punishment. I can't go on. It is sickening.
Tons of good info here.

I asked the Manager what was happening %26 he informed me there had been an outbreak of Bed Bugs %26 asked me %26 my husband if we had been bitten. We said we had noticed a few minor bites but had put them down to usual pesky little bities encountered everywhere in the world. He asked the Pest Controller to check our Bed-head. They could not find anything. The Manager then showed me a sample insect in a plastic bag %26 advised that we should inform him if any of these insects became obvious. During the following week I noticed a brown insect climbing our bedroom wall. I collected the sample %26 took it to the front office. They inspected the insect %26 told me it had wings %26 was unlikely to be a Bed Bug. Answer:
Pleasant dreams folks
change hotels.
You usually don't see bedbugs, just feel them and see the bites. They are small and in the matress and you won't see them in broad daylight usually. If you have red bumps that follow your veins, those are bed bug bites.
Geezzzzz.... get out of that hotel. Not only are you getting bitten, you could bring some of those critters home with you and get your home infested.... I would have not spent another night there knowing there was insect infestation.....
Call the local Board of Health, if you are allegic to pesticides, you may even have a lawsuit..Go to Human Ecology Action League or (HEAL the acronym) Take pictures, get a specimen! A lot of people are getting sick after they have left those infested hotels and don't understand why they are now ill! Make sure you get a refund and abetter accomodations!
Bedbugs are attracted to white fabrics, so if your shirt was white, it may be that a bedbug was on you.
Most bedbugs are shaped more or less like a watermelon seed, and about the same size, or smaller. There are actually 14 different types of bedbugs. Some of them can make you pretty sick.
I was bitten several years ago buy a conenose bedbug while I slept. We had white sheets, which we had brought in from the line outside. I ended up in the hospital for four days.
I would move to a different hotel, definitely. Also, check to make sure that none of them have made their way into your clothing, or your luggage.
Bedbugs are reappearing quite frequently now, hitchhiking on peoples luggage as they move from place to place, and country to country.
Good luck, and keep your eyes on the lookout.

A federal employee told me he never got my email because his address is case sensitive. True?

He said that ".gov" had to be lower case only. I've not heard this before.
Answer:
This is untrue. According to the link below, the one part of the email address which is case insensitive is the domain name. Thus, irs.gov portion of the email address is case insensitive.

Most likely your email got caught in their spam filters and didn't reach the recipient.

Please see the link below.

There are many email systems out there that are case sensitive.
False.
Yes military, federal and some state emails are all case sensitive.
im not sure ive never had one fail due to case sensitivity as far as i know it does not make a diffarnce but i dont know to much about computers just enough to use this thing for picking up email and bloggin

A family member has died intestate leaving a substantial sum of money.?

There are living children, but the deceased was divorced, no property was left only money. Why do probate forms require names of siblings of the deceased, living or dead? When the children should inherit.
Answer:
Is this because there was no will If so I would suspect that just incase the children are not of age there would have to be an adult to act as a trustee - the money could be put into a trust until the children are of age. Im not really sure but did find this information

"It is important to be aware that the spouse of a deceased person who died Intestate, DOES NOT automatically inherit the whole of the estate, if the total value of the free estate passing on the death, is of substantial value. The Law prescribes what a surviving spouse can automatically receive, this is known as the Statutory legacy, and the amount is dependent on whether or not the deceased was also survived by issue and certain other relatives, again in order of strict priority. " (first link)

perhaps you should talk to a probate lawyer who could explain all this to you

I have put a few links with probate information in the UK which might help you
you are looking for the law of 'succession' on that one
its just routine..to ensure that all living siblings are noted..and even if there are any that have died..it also has to be noted for legal reasons %26 ruling them out of the inheritance. ...nothing to worry about.
Because, in dying intestate, it does not always mean that the children will automatically inherit - a wider class is afforded a claim, although usually it shouldn't be a problem.

However, it is THE reason why it is so important to make a will, so as to avoid such occurences - and potential headaches and heartache.
You could have endless (and expensive) problems dragging on for ever as a death brings all sorts of people out of the woodworm claiming they are entitled to something. Hopefully you won't, but the solicitor will rub his hands as this is going to cost sorting out!

What will really annoy you is if no inheritance tax planning has been done Gordon Brown will be taking 40% of everything over 拢285,000/300,000!

Everyone should make a will once they start to have an "estate" to prevent this type of problem!
In the UK if an estate is intestate and over a certain amount I dont know the present sum but a few years ago it was 拢70 then other relatives - siblings and nephews can make a claim on the estate.
its just a formality,in case it transpires that the children murdered the intestate ,then they cant take neither will their issue take.............Jones v midland bank.............,re DWS
if they murdered their father they forfeit their inheritance.
.....re crippen......
but if they have nothing to do with the death then nobody shares with the issues never ever.........
the wife by virtue of s18 WA1837...UK ...Will be deemed predeceased ...i.e dead

I'm thinking within a few hours, a day? Is there a law in the UK governing this?
Answer:
If a Doctor can issue a death certificate i.e. there are no suspicious circumstances then the body can stay in the house. There is no law stating how long a body can remain in a house for, or stating that it has to be removed in a certain time. You do not even have to use a funeral director.
If a death certificate cannot be issued i.e. the Doctor thinks the death needs further investigation he will contact the coroner who will arrange removal.
In practice, if a body had been left for days by relatives without informing anyone the coroner and police would investigate in case there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the death which relatives were trying to hide, but they wouldn't have actually broken a law by not informing anyone sooner.
Definately within 24 hours, but a lot less if possible.
It would really depend on the circumstances. I dont think there is a set guide line but a coroner is usuallt called within the hour and an under taker will take it away as soon as they are able to attend. However if there are suspicious circustances ie murder etc then it could take longer as csi would need to attend and photograph the body etc!
When my father died in his bed they removed his body within a few hours. I know that the doctor has to pronounce them legally dead first but I don't think there is a time span.
If you can prop them comfortably in a chair you could have them with you for ages...if you don't mind the smell. It does help to embalm them though as this would remove the quickly degenerating organs and treat what is left with a preservative.
To avoid suspicion that someone in the home caused the family member to die you should call it in right away. The last thing you want to deal with after a death in the family is a full on investigation into your past and present.
I have no idea, but you are scaring me!!!!
In the uk the body does not have to be removed from the house until burial If the doctor says he/she died of natural causes. Even then the body doesnt have tio be removed from the grounds if you have a garden bug enough to bury it and get the right planting permission from the council!
I don't think there are set laws on this but most people have them removed within a couple of hours of a doctor pronouncing that they are actually dead. The smell of a dead body really isn't nice. Not how you would want to remember a loved one for sure.
I am not sure if there is a law how ever has soon as the police rule out murder etc the body will be removed.
In the UK if a Dr can issue a death certificate and are called to the house, they can pronouce life extinct, the police will not get involved. the Dr will normally advise the nok about undertakers etc. if th Dr can not issue a certificate the police are involved only as an agent for the coroner, the police will arrange recovery of the body normally within a couple of hours as the coroner has control over what happens to the body, post mortem etc
I guess when they start to whiff a bit.
I searched on the internet, with no luck..ha

When I watch FBI Files or Forensic Detectives, they normally take them away straight away unless its an actual crime scene in which case it would be a lot longer.

Seeing as your describing a natural cause of death, they would take the body straight away. However seeing as the family kept the body overnight, I don't think it would cause any trouble. The police would be sympathetic and understanding to their grief.
Whether it is expected or not any death not inside a hospital has to be reported to the police, who in turn report the circumstances of the death to the coronor, who will in turn issue a certificate of death.

Some people do find it hard to accept death and calling undertakers/police or ambulances is the last thing on their mind, although once the death has been reported the police can enforce entry and removal of the body.

There is no specific law that gives a time window, but for obvious reasons as soon as practicable would be best for everyone concerned.

From experience some just cant accept the death of a loved one and bodies have been discovered months after the death in very advanced stages of decomposition and the elderly partner was still sleeping in the same bed as her deceased husband about 6 months after his death and didnt register the fact that he had almost turned to liquid and the smell was over powering.

So 24 hours isnt too bad in the case of your neighbour

A doctors position on partial-birth abortion; To know if he does them or not...?

In an office visit you can ask him questions about it. However, is he obligated to tell you if he does or does not perform them?
Is there a professional medical list of doctors provided some where so people (you %26 I) can know when we go looking for a family doctor or chidren's doctor we will know who we are dealing with?

Hopefully, (when we go for an office visit) we all have doctors who are treating us and our dear family members safely in one part of his/her day and not killing our communities children in another part of the day.

Just because they are kind and compassionate to you in an office visit doesn't mean they weren't killing some defenceless child a few minutes before they saw you.

Does the term "A Work in Progress" not apply to unborn children. The killing of a mother with child as was on the news in the past few years (in a certain case) would indicate that the law has a legal standard for the inside and outside of your doctor's delivery room. It's murder to me!
Answer:
I suppose it is a good thing people have their own opinions.I can't say I ever heard that a doctor has to disclose they do partial birth abortions.Unless that is the reason you are seeing them. The clinic or office they are working out of may not do abortions period.Though that doesn't mean the doctor doesn't do them else wheres.
I am not a supporter of abortions.Being it seems others are adding their 2 cents so will I.I am not a supporter of abortions though I do see where there are exceptions. Now that being said,I do support a persons right to decide for them self. There is no possible way for any of us to tell another what is best for them. Some don't see adoption as a viable answer. When looking at the amount of children there already are waiting to be adopted I can see the sense behind the logic.A work in process perhaps.Though should we say this work should only be done in the womb.Being there are those who seek fertility specialists,To have the components mixed together then implanted.Surely that cannot be ethical. Is a cluster of cells life or just a work in process that can become life.Being 25% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage by the 11th to 13th week, can we truly say a life was cut short.Or could we say there was no spirit present to promote the growth of the work in process. Many times we have religious differences. I'm sure you wouldn't want my religion dictating to you.Nor would I want yours to have sway over me.So ask yourself this did your god create your spirit/soul or your body. Was your soul created at conception or did your creator create it and then send it to the body.
Oh you might want to read your book carefully before answering yourself.
First of all only specialist does them. Family doctors don't have the equipment. Second, they are extremely rare. I have a friend in Planned parenthood, and they don't even do them. I wouldn't worry about it.
There are many, if not most, hospitals that refuse to do abortions. This is why separate clinics are set up mainly by Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood gets lots of money from our government to do family planning, which includes abortions. This is crazy. I don't want any of my tax dollars to go for these programs. In my opinion this is unethical and needs to be stopped.

A cousin and his friend were driving drunk and killed 2 people, should i stop meeting him?

They were driving on the highway, his friend was driving, they claim that people who they killed were drunk too but thats what they claim...
He would get away from the law due to several reasons,i am not even sure if it was entirely or to what extent his fault, but i donno he did share a lot of responsibility ....should i stop meeting him?we r rather close..
Answer:
That is entirely up to you.
For him to say that the 2 people who died were drunk as well shows he has little remorse and is quick to point the finger at others.

I myself dont associate with murderers, and thats what he is, a murderer.

He killed 2 people and tried to justify it. Who knows....next time hes drunk and kills more people, he could try to blame you
i agree with coventry....

A complicated marriage/money law question?

My mum has been married to her husband for almost 2 years. Anyway, once married this man changed totally, became a different man altogther so they are now divorcing. All through the marriage he refused to give her any money, she only had child benefit to live off which brought her and her sons food each week and any clothes ect Today she has just come across a bank statement which shows he has been putting all the extra income, meant for the family, into an ISA. Does she have any rights to claim some of this as it was the families money in the first place? It is quite alot of money.
Answer:
Hi Mcc

In the UK.

Its really down to a judge to decide. This is a matter of equity and trust law. Most good divorce solicitors will be reasonably up to date with Equity and trust law. There are a number of leading cases that cover this type of scenario.

Asa far as the ISA is concerned there may be a case for a constructive trust here as it is alleged that the funds are for the family.

Talk to an equity and trusts law specialist.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
Your mother is entitled to the money but only the commensurate amount for support and the rest will be for the owner.
I always believered that in a divorce all assets are split down the middle. I would contact citzens advise as they will know exactly where she stands and what she needs to do.
Depends on the state you're in and what sort of lawyer you can afford. A two year marriage isn't likely to provide much. Her claim would be what might have been deposited only during the marriage - and only if you're in a community property state.

If she was claiming government benefits (and you are not referring to child support) during that time, and the combined income would have made her ineligible for such - there might be issues there.

She is not likely to receive ongoing support.

Are the children his?

A car with legal plates but broken down was towed away off my property by by the state ,is this legal?

the car has been broken down for a long time and has flat tires but it has always been plated. Also its on my property in my drive not on the street.
Answer:
Probably - it depends on local ordinances. Many cities have laws against abandoning old junkers even on your own property. It was probably an eye-sore and your neighbors called it in.
Probably. It depends upon the county or city ordinances. The county where I live has laws like that. In fact, I knew a fellow who had a bunch of car parts in his back yard. The county came and hauled most of it off and sent him a bill for doing that!
The Liberal Nanny state wants to control ALL aspects of our life.
In most states as long as the vehicle is registered they can't tow it off your property.
Yes, it's legal. The car is considered a hazzard because it hasn't been moved and has flat tires.
Ask a lawyer. It depends on your local laws. Are you sure it was towed by the state? It might have been the city or town. Also, if the plates were legal, I doubt they had the right to take it.

A Car pool/ public trans. day?

I believe we should have the last day of every month should be a car pool or public transportation day to help curb the crazy gas prices. Who's with me or do you have a better REALISTIC IDEA ? I stress 'REALISTIC'
Answer:
People should carpool and take public transport EVERY DAY.

Recently my husband and I started becoming VERY eco friendly. We take one car every day. Sure, there's the weird times but thats one car off the road. Just think is EVERYONE did this. Wow!! No more rush hour!!

There's so many other things to do also.
I take public transit EVERY day.
have all Americans not buy gas for one week that would cost the oil company's 2 billion dollars { yes 2 billion dollars } , they will lower the prices then but of course Americans won't and have to deal with the 6 dollars a gallon come the summer time - which is the latest estimates .
This would be very awesome! I commute 45 minutes each way every day. Unfortunately, in my state, there's currently no option for public transport. :( (There should be!!!) I have been searching for carpools, but there aren't any open and I can't find anyone to ride with me.

I think we need more public awareness of this and maybe more websites that help commuters connect with each other.

Good luck! :)
build more refineries, increase domestic drilling
That is silly because a there is little useful public transportation. Car pool only works if you live near people who work at the same place and same hours.

Here is something to chew on....Staggered starting work hours. Spread rush hour commutes over a longer time and reduce the number of cars per hour on the roads. It worked in LA during the Olympics.
I work from home - I "walk" to work every day.

A cadet does not lie, cheat, steal or tolerate those who do. Does this make any sense as a rule for America?

West Point is a factory for making leaders. Leadership is important. The fundamental bedrock of leadership is honor. Simply put, people will follow a competent leader of honor to and through the gates of hell if need be.

We see many politicians today out of whose mouths proceed statements that are demonstrably untrue. Not things about which reasonable men can differ.

A liar has no honor. Of course, honor involves much much more than the cadet Code in the headline. A leader of honor does not throw a subordinate under the bus when the leader had something to do with the effupp. Honor means taking responsibility for your mistakes, too. There is usually more dishonor in lying about conduct than there is in the conduct itself. That's because lying about something can complicate the process of dealing with the real problem. Weapons of Mass Distruction is only one instance of the disregard of truth in the press for success. What success? Who profits?
Answer:
Amen, to that brother! Is sad but true that to succeed in politics, one has to have sold their honor and soul a LONG time back. It's sad, but apparently any politico who shows a strong ethic and honesty is soundly defeated by his own party, LONG before he comes close to ultimate success.
A bunch of politicians on both sides have no honor. They lead people without having ever been in those positions. They order people to die, but would they do it if it were their children?
The problem is when a leader puts the needs of the party before the needs of the country, "honor" is half a punchline to a dirty joke. (I'll tell it to you later).

I did not like Ronald Reagan. I felt that a lot of the stances he took were unnecessarily provocative, but i did respect him, as he had integrity (then, he flushed it all away with Iran-Contra)
While your question is well formed, it presupposes conditions of misguided logic. You enter into your equation a base untruth, therefore the question folds unto itself. Being uninformed is not a basis for your false truth. You do not adhere to the very standard of which you accuse others of not following. When you are capable of finding the truth yourself, then you will be able to demand it of others.

Nice try junior.

A bill collector has started to call my neighbors, by looking in the phone book at our address.?

I'm doing my best to pay, but what I need to know is if this is harrassment? I am embarrassed that my neighbors are being called with my business. If it is harrassment (legally) what can I do about it?
Answer:
that's illegal...go speak to an attorney..and second of all you need to tell them to not contact you anymore and legally they have to but that doesnt stop them pursuing the debt and really if youre still paying they cant do anything...i had the same issue and i did what im telling you to do and it stopped...if youre able to try and call them to make a settlement offer which can be 50 to 60% less of what you owe but it requires you to have the amount agreed on immediately to pay off..hope this helps and dont stress too much..
get lawyer, sue.
Yes, it certainly is harrassment, not to mention a violation of confidentiality. Find out which company is calling and report them. There are laws to protect debtors for over-eager collectors.
Call them and raise hell. They can only use this technique to track someone down. If you've made arrangements and are paying them what you can, just call them and tell them if it continues they will not get one more penny.
That IS harrassment, and illegal.
I have quit paying on 5 credit cards totaling $5,000.00. They call and call but I leave my answering machine on 24/7. I had to do this 10 years ago and they give up after awhile until the company gives your account to another bill collector. Finally, it all just disappeared and I didn't have to pay a cent. Yes, my credit rating sucked for awhile but who cares. I own my home and car and don't need or want any more credit, especially credit cards. I have never heard of a bill collector calling neighbors but it sure doesn't sound right. Call Better Business Bureau if you can't get ahold of a bankruptcy lawyer.
In most states it is explicitly illegal for a debt collector to call your neigbors, family, or employers.

A bananna display, a dog, anda sheep?

Earlier this morning I was working on my uncle's farm. In his farm he has sheep, chickens, horses, etc. While i was brushing his dog One of his sheep broke out of its pen and ran off. By the time I found him he was causeing havoic in a local grocery store. He got into the store and wrecked this really big bananna display that was by the front door. HE ate and vomited up all the banannas . My question is how much trouble can me and/or my unlce get into with the grocery store? And also can we go to jail or get sued? Only serious answers only.
Answer:
As far as "trouble", I don't see any criminal intent so I would have to say no from a law point of view, but civil responsibility is the real issue here. Your uncle is responsible to maintain control of his livestock and the grocery store owner has every right to seek actual damages. If the damage was limited to eating a banana display and making a mess, I would think that a local farmer and a local grocery store owner ought to be able to work out an amenable settlement.
I would think that you would be liable for the damages to the store but I don't think it could be a criminal charge though I am not sure what country you are in, maybe Australia or NZ. I think it would be fair to pay for the damage, at least reasonable damages.
You/your uncle, as owners of the unruly animal, will be held accountable for the damaged display, fruit that was destroyed or damaged and the clean up involved.

The owner could sue, but I doubt that an arrest is in order.

To avoid legal action, call or go talk to the store owner and make arrangements to make restitution as soon as possible.

And fix the pen that pesky sheep is in. 鈽?
Probably won't go to jail, though their might be criminal fines for letting the animal get loose. Your uncle is responsible for the damage the sheep caused. If he wants to avoid being sued, it would be a good idea for him to contact the owner, or the general manager of the store, and work out some sort of compensation.

A 17 year old boy did credit card fraud. Tha a felony. what will the court do to him?

a 17 year old boy did credit card fraud. that a felony. what will the court do to him? and will that felony stay on his record after he turn 18? Will job or college be able to look at his record?
Answer:
I've heard that because it's one of the most severse things you can illegally do, they don't look at age, and whoever gets caught doing it gets screwed over. I've heard of jail time for it, regarless of age.
First offense probably probation and alot of fines.....
Depends on how the prosecutor charges him (adult or juvenile). Also, there are plea deals and so forth.
a ********, Judge Judy will do this to him though
Depends on the state in which the crime was committed and the state's legal definition of a juvenile. Its possible that he could be charged as a juvenile and then have the record sealed upon turning 18.
Stay on the prosecutor on watch out for plea bargains.
kill him cause hes a bad boy. it will teach him never to use a fake credit card again. hmp bad ppl. =(
they should lock him up to teach him a lesson, but they will probably just give him a slap on the wrist and say don't do it again.. but i guess it does depend on how much money he actually was able to steal
Slap him on the wrist with fines, costs, hopefully make him restitute the cost of his problems...and serfe a little time to open his own accountability so his parents can recover fromit too.
he will be tried as an adult,it will stay on his record, whether its expunged or not is up to the judge and attorney he chooses, alsoif theres any other crimes committed by him as a minor.Either way it will cost him money, and time,if he truly wants to clean up his record
if they dont charge him as an adult it will get off of his record after he turns 18, he will most likely have to goto court ALOT to check up on how he is doing, in school and who he is hanging out with
Oh yea, gonna do time. felonys are for life.
If he had gotten enough money out of it it wouldnt matter what the fuckin court says.
Well hopefully the 17 year old little thief gets charged as an adult and rots in prison.

A 16 or 17 yrs. old minor starts a fight with an 18 yrs. old can the 18 yrs old fight back without jail time?

if a minor starts a fight with someone 18 or older and the minor throws the first punch does the 18 year old have the right to defend himself without worry of jail time??
Answer:
Depending on the exact situation, there is no such law that comes down on adults for fighting with minors. Now the fact that this minor is so close to age 18 makes a big difference compared to an adult defending themselves against a 9 year old (given that they don't have a weapon). But there's lots of specifics that would need to be addressed in the given situation. Every person has the right to defend themselves, but just because the minor throws the first punch doesn't mean that he instigated the fight. You can strike first in a fight if you feel that a fight is inevitable. Remember that there are plenty of actions that take place before an altercation that ultimately decide whether or not a fight will take place. So be careful what you say and what you do, regardless if you're the minor or the adult.
You can always defend yourself with force equal to the threat. Proving who started it could be a problem though, especially if you're both drunk, in the dark, and you don't make an attempt to get away. Likely both parties will be charged and the adult will get it worse.
if defender uses commensurate force, not excessive force,,yes,,,,if hes down and you keep pounding him,,,,you're using excessive force
well i would think it would be considered self defense if the minor started the fight so if the minor starts it then the 18 year old hits back in self defense then i think it would be ok as long as the 18 year old doesn't do anything major like shoot the minor or something you know?
You can always defend yourself, no matter what the age of the other person. However, you will both probably end up in court pleading your case. Make sure you have credible witnesses to back up your claim and a good attorney. AND don't mouth off to the law enforcement officials (they get kinda cranky). Also, be respectful to the judge.
18 is still considered adult age whenit comes to certain things, but the when it comes to crime and defense th age is now 16 first of all. Second, If you are hit first and then you hit back this is considered defending yourself. I was taught and have taught my children put your hands to the side or behind your back let them hit first then do what ever it takes to defend yourself. Who ever takes the first swing is the one who pays the price!!
First of all no matter what...there needs to be a credible witness for the 18yr old. The police will not take kids on their word. That being said, if the younger one has hit the 18 yr old I think he does have the right to defend himself. It also depends on where you are from. For awhile in my state, it was only self defense after three hits from the other person. That has since been changed. I don't know about you, but I can do a little damage in three hits....The BEST answer for this question would be to go to the authorities. That is the only true way to assure that the older boy doesn't get in trouble.
Yeah, as ling as he doesnt continue to fight after the threat is over. Also, if there are means to leave, that avenue must be taken first. But there are plenty of 15year olds that are 6'2" and 270 pounds...But if you're much bigger, that may be a different story.

A ? about shoplifting & abercrombie!?

Allright so Ive been fighting with my cousin over this will somebody let me know if im wrong or right. When my cousin was like 15 she got cought with a friend at abercrombie shoplifting %26 nothing happened to her but she was just told to never come back to an abercrombie store ( perhaps because she was a minor?) its been years now %26 she was there one day %26 somebody ofered her a job %26 shes going in for an interview next week. I told her not to even bother because im asuming theill have her information there. even though she already filled out a form. Im still telling her not to go in I think its stupid. What do you think? Am I right?
Answer:
I would bet that there is no record of her being "banned" from Abercrombie. If several years have gone by, that info is probably long gone. Also, she was a minor, so if that info was to show up anywhere, she could probably explain it to the people that she was young and stupid, etc. I think she ought to go for it. The worst that could happen is that they don't hire her and she gets embarrassed.
It depends on how long the person who told her not to come back worked there for, and if they DID keep any records.

Usually they just give a warning and watch out for them to return in like two or three months to just make sure they dont. After that they could care less.

Since she WAS a minor back then, if they do still have ANY previous information on her, its against the law. She could sue them for retaining private and personal information on a minor - a Felony in most cases.

She was never charged officially with anything, and if she was never arrested for anything at all between now and then, she has nothing to worry about.
You are wrong. She should go for the interview. She was a MINOR.
It would be very surprising if they had any record of it after years. She should go for it.
What does she have to lose? All they can do now is tell her they wont hire her. Why would you tell someone you care about not to got to a job interview????
Not all stores maintain a list of shoplifters for more than a year. Think how long it would be... SInce she was a minor, she should be all right. The never come here again is usually an empty threat, unless they were formally charged.
u r right
I doubt they keep detailed records of all the shoplifters they let go, but I could be wrong. If someone offered her a job, and she wants it, it's worth trying. If they do figure it out, so what? She's right back to where she was, no harm done. They catch people shoplifting all the time, plus the store probably has high turnover. I doubt the same people even work there, if it has been years. Even if they do have a long time employee, do you think that person will really remember her?
Retailers rarely prosecute for shoplifting because it typically costs more to prosecute than the shoplifters steal (if they steal a lot of money, they will be busted). The typical response is to formally forbid them from ever stepping onto the property of the company. Legally they can do that because they are privately owned.

If your cousin is older now, there isn't any reason they can't hire her. They might find the little incident in her past, but it is doubtful. Unless there is someone there from when she was nabbed for shoplifting, more than likely they will never know of the incident, and she is fine. There is no "record" in "boutique stores" kept of those that are asked not to patron their business. In stores like Wal-Mart and Target? That is an entirely different story. There they will have info, and they will make sure you do not go into their stores if you are asked not to due to shoplifting.
Yes. They keep these things on file. If you are cought shoplifting %26 were notified not to come back to a store of it's, unless they specify a time frame, it means forever. %26, by here going there constitutes tresspassing. If they really want to, they can call the cops on her %26 have her arrested for such (%26, this will show up on her record, so, I doubt she wants that)

Basically, she should just forget about any possible careers with that company.
i highly doubt they will still have her info on hand, but i do not know a and f's policy. she can be charged with trespassing, but if they didnt take any infromation from her then shell be ok. at my store we process evey one we catch. and if they come back before they are 18 w/o a parent they get tresspassing charge. and if they are over 18, they get banned for life

94% of all lawsuits .................?

Are filed in the USA!

Is there a lesson here somewhere?
Answer:
My sister lives in Europe. Europeans laugh at us because most of our problems and issues with each other need to be handled with lawyers. They wonder how we can be so tough, but are unable to just deal with our problems amongst ourselves
Yes, but greed won't go away.
Yeah, watch your back. You never know when you may be sued for something you did or said.
We are a sue-happy country. I've known this for awhile, but it really hit home when our neighbor tried to sue us for giving away a stray cat that she had been feeding. The cat was living under our house. She wanted the cat replaced (which we offered to do anyway), mental anguish pay, and 2 days lost wages (time she supposedly spent looking for the cat).

It got thrown out, of course, but honestly...
Yes that while we have problems we have an open and free justice system...that is a very blanket statement without looking at other nations and seeing why lawsuits are not filed.

Eliminate all communist nations such as China and Cuba where the government owns everything.

Eliminate 3rd world nations where the access to the courts is limited to a wealthy few.
Haven't you heard,we're the I sue you,you sue me country. This is one thing people from all over the world learn as soon as they come here, believe me. My best friend (from Medellin) Is always threatening to sue every time he doesn't get his own way,he's a trip. I'll quote him, "Theese mothie fucckie do discrimination for me,I callie my lawyer,I no givie a fucckie."

911 calls for abuse?

is it possible to locate old 911 calls made in order to support long term abuse in a parental rights case. Is the information even saved, and for how long?
Answer:
How long depends on the states law along with agency policy. It could be 1 year or it may be several.

You can file a FOIA (Freedom of Informarion Act) request to see if you qualify to get copies of the calls assuming they still have them.

It sounds like you should have an attorney, he/she will have a much easier time getting them.
yes it is posible.
yes, I know 911 calls are kept at least for a year or 2(for court reasons)call your local police station (the NON emergency #) and maybe they can help you
Call your local police station and ask them they might help or its possible you can subpoena them.
the info is available but is generally hidden from the public. contact your local police department and explain your role in knowing the information and they will give it to you.
the how long depends on the city, but they all have to keep them for some point in time. Go talk to the office that was actually called or responded to the call. They will have your answers not anybody on here.
I am a 911 dispatcher, so I may be able to help with this. I know in our dispatch center, actual calls are recorded, copied onto CD's and kept for a period of several months. The only people who may request call information are police agencies, fire and EMS personnel, attorneys and the court system. Additionally, we have the capability of using our computer software to access a history of responses to any given address in our county. Our local police agencies have this information also. Hope this helps.

911 calling?

Are 911 calls kept on record and if so for how long? I called today and they asked for my last name, first name and then my date of birth - I mean it was for an embarrasing situation and the cop showed up at my place but only for 5 second but I just want to know if they keep that kind of thing on record - I mean if I get pulled over and go to jail, can they search my record
Answer:
Yes, 911 calls are kept on record. This is in accordance with FCC regulations.

You woke up and you thought that you saw someone. You called 911. That's okay. The cop showed up and everything turned out to be fine. That's even better.

It's a lot better than the alternative. There really could have been someone there. Your life could have been in danger.

You have nothing to be embarrassed about. The information they asked for is required. They are supposed to ask for that. It's policy. There won't be anything on a police record of you calling. Calline 911 for assistance is not against the law.

Calls are recorded for a number of reasons. What if the call is because someone is being murdered? The tape of that call can provide valuble information to prosecute a suspect.
The tapes can be used to remind witnesses of information they provided.

I can give you a personal example of when a 911 call helped. I was behind a drunk driver one day. I called 911. It was 18 minutes before police could catch up with me and the driver of the other vehicle. I stayed on the phone, telling the operator where we were, what roads we were on, what intersections we had gone through and so on. Using this information, the operator was able to direct police to our location and arrest the drunk driver. The tape was later used in court to prosecute the driver. I was called as a witness but pretty much all I had to do was verify that it was my voice on the tape. There was no way I was going to remember everything I said during that 18 minute 911 call. The tape was actually the witness. Charge: DUI.Verdict: Guilty. Sentence: I didn't stick around for that.
9-1-1 records are kept for a long time. It may vary from locality to locality, but I'd think an absolute minimum would be seven years.
They are kept on record for their information more than anything; but that is not something that would ever show up as "against you" in a records check unless the officer let you know you had broken the law.
Yes they keep transcripts, assumably forever. But if Alberto Gonzales gets his hands on your record, your in luck cause he probably won't recall losing it. hehehe

But it can't be held against you in court. And it is confidential, classified etc. But is also in the Public Domain, which even top secret documents are.
uh, yeah, but they cant let you know that because you might get someones personal information by lying, but when a cop pulls you over, or you do something ludachris such as robbing a bank, it shows up on your criminal record, ok so not criminal, your record.
You can always ask for the call to be anonymous. As long as you aren't calling to report a bomb in the white house or something really crazy.

I highly doubt that it shows up when you are pulled over. Unless you were cited with something.
They do keep it, but not to search your records. It is a backup, incase someone says they said this, when they really said that. Investigates us it to listen to a voice when a murder has been called in, to get a feel for the call. Get all the tickets you want, they won't trace you through the 911 call.

911 Callers question?

If I call 911 on somebody in my house, from a cell phone. can I remain annonymous? and will they tell my parents the call came from this house?
Answer:
911 in many areas is often not free - so it would show up on a land-line phone bill. On cell phones, ALL calls appear on the bill.

Who pays the bills?

If it is your folks - then they will ultimately find out by seeing the phone bill.

1-800-4-A-CHILD is a National Agency for children or adults to call and report abuse. Being a child in the midst of abusive adults IS a form of child abuse.

Call them for advice. A toll free number DOES show up on a cell phone bill - but NOT a land line house phone bill.

Here's a link to many National Abuse Hotline numbers:
http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/ovc/help/numb.h...

Also - The front pages of your hometown phone book should have the non-emergency phone number for your local police. You should call and speak to a dispatcher - ask for a reference to speak to someone about your concerns about the abuse in your home. They can set up a call to someone that can help you determine if this is something that would merit a call to 911 when the problem occurs.

Speak to a counselor or teacher about your issues.

Just remember... bringing the police makes it a matter of public record - and they will seek a method of terminating the problem. Find out all that can happen. Be informed. Find a way to get counseling for yourself - because you need someone to talk to about this.

All marriages have hard times.
Some are bad for a very long time.
Some are violent - and leave huge emotional scars.

Get good advice - and follow what is RIGHT.

I pray you find a way for protection and peace, dear one.
God bless.

Good luck, hon.
No they will not tell your parents. But if this is a prank call, they can and will get the info and you will face charges.
They will be able to tell what phone it came from.
Yes you can, and all depends on the circumstance.
Heh nope.
you can remain anonymous but if its a prank they'll come find you and you'll have a lawsuit on your hands.
Just Call, If You Have To... You Can Also Say "Please Leave My Name And Number Out Of This." Basically Tell Them The Truth. You're Calling For Help And That You Want To Be Anonymous. I Know What You Are Talking About... My Parents Use To Fight A Lot Too And I Always Hated It... I Try To Stop It Once But Didnt Happen, I Got Shove Into The Closet. Good Luck Man. Stay Chill, Dont Worry To Much
You can remain anonymous when calling 911, but the phone will typically show your GPS coordinates. A land line phone will show the address, phone number, and the name of the person registered to the phone. A cell phone shows the phone number and if it is a newer phone it will show a GPS coordinate. The situation that you are describing is Domestic Violence. Sometimes it takes calling the police to get help started. If you want, when you are in a situation like that, take your landline phone, dial 911 and lay the phone down. Police are typically dispatched to open line and 911 hangup calls. They will investigate what is going on and can help you.

911 - If you don't believe that there was ANY wrongdoing at all by our government, what do you base that on?

Truth seekers of 911 are asking us who understand critical thinking, to research on our own before blindly falling into line by simply accepting what the U.S. Government says about 911 just because we are Americans and must trust our government. Blind faith? Do they deserve it? If presented with two choices; the governments 911 Commission Report or the many Americans who have educated themselves and come armed with facts-- If you are truly a person who values critical thinking; then you would at least consider the possibility that the 911 Commission's report is not actually credible, but that means you would have to read it. Did you read it? Remember, not based on anything other than reading the 911 report, do you honestly think it's 100% accurate? Do you think there may be errors in it? Is it possible that our government made some huge errors that fateful day? After reading the 911 report, is it possible that the report is wrong? What's odds that it is 100% accurate?
Answer:
Anyone who believes the official story is either doing it blindly. In other words, "They don't even really know what it is." or they are in emotional denial and live under fear.

If you don't buy the 9/11 stuff just ask me anything and I will help you to understand what is happening. We are being lied, deceived and mislead.
**Mr Indian writes**-
Most of you don't know much about our government if you think they wouldn't do something like that. Just read your history books about the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Gulf of Tonkin incident. How can you trust our government? **

Cuban missile crisis was made up by our government????
( and the Soviets had no interest in this and there were no nukes? -c-mon get real )

Gulf of Tonkin "incident" was a aggressive move by our military to provoke an action by the Vietnamese The Vietnamese could of took the nice road but we had to see the intent of their military. An exercise of FACT. We see that Vietnam DID commit acts of high crime on the International waterways.

OVER 200,000,000 AMERICANS DISPUTE YOUR CLAIM
are you going to tell these people that they are wrong?
Do you think that all the German People fell for Hitlers Propaganda?
do you believe that 3 million people Believed in Marxism?
lets just say maybe there was an issue about putting food on the table. And to a Starving person, propaganda was just another hurdle, to get food.

You Hang that American Indian Title around your neck for whose benefit? You are embarrassing your tribe, go home little stinky britches.

We did go to the moon.
and the 911 report is just a small piece of a larger picture - so maybe you need to get "The Big picture"

For Gods sake get a life.

BY THE WAY, IT WAS ALL GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT (lol)

he brain washed us too -ha haha hahah ahahhahahhahahhaahh
The second I believe that my country is harming its own is the second I begin to fear my country - Thats not going to happen.

Cheers nad have a nice day!
The truth shall set you free!
Why do these freaks think that the gov't would kill 3,000 of their own people? And anyway, al-Queida took responsibilty for the attacks.
Umm, none?
Of course, "citizens armed with facts" aren't my favorite source of accuracy, either.
We will never know what happened on 9/11/01.
It's what's gonna happen on September 7, 2008, that should concern us.
Read every word. NO credible souce says the government was activly involved in such a manner as to cause this terrorist attack. 100% ? Probably not but at least 100 times more accurate than the crap i see being peddled every day here by "Americans who have educated themselves and come armed with facts"
I'm not really sure either way, but anyone who has fact-based information, I'd like to hear it... Honestly, I'll listen to plausible conspiracies as well.
Its likely that the 9/11 report isn't 100% accurate and it is clear that mistakes were made on 9/11... we will probably never know exactly what happened in all four planes that day... but it's NOT because the Government is covering it up... there are too many people on Capitol Hill who want to burry Bush for this conspiracy to ever actually work...
9/11 happened 5 years ago. It is a tragedy that it happened and many innocent people died. Why would our government have staged this? That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. You Liberals need to let this dog die and just accept it for what it is. A Tragedy caused by terrorist!!!!
I lost 5 friends in 9/11.

You dishonor their memory with your stupid, pointless hypothesizing.
Critical thinking?!?!?!?!? critical thinking means Examining all evidence and coming to a conclusion by rational means. Now that are terms are established care to try again. Every piece of evidence that the theorists have put out has been proven false but they still hang on to it because they came to their conclusion first then only look at that evidence that supports their delusion.
THIS JUST IN:

The moon landing was staged, as numerous Americans who have educated themselves have declared it is actually made of green cheese!!!!!!
listen up...everything is errored...im sure the reports has some errors, the news has some errors, probably al quiada's report probably has some errors in it...the only thing that i beleive about that day is; that arab terrorists fulfilled a pre arranged mission to fly 4 buildings into buildings...and we were not prepared...

i certainly dont think the government had anything to do with the bombimgs themselves...like many like to say that they rigged the buildings to explode...come one people, indipendent analysers have proven that , that could NOT have happened!
wait wait wait....you mean our Governement is NOT perfect....OMG, i think im going to pass out.....
notice the HEAVY sarcasm?

come on...aren't you a little late to be jumping on this train? Governments do what they think is right to protect the people. What if the truth was so bad, that you WOULDNT WANT to know about it? What if it was something much worse? What would happen? What would happen if we knew the true dnger that we are in.....there would be immediate panic and riots. Oh, and what truths are you talking about....the morons like Rosie that go around saying , "That was the first time EVER that fire had melted steel....." OR maybe the "fact" that there were no Jews in the buildings....which has been proven false.......OR maybe the "fact" that the planes shot some sort of missle into the building before they entered...yea....that one has to be true....(notice my sarcasm again? )
what an idiot.....come on, go run along and let the adults play.
1. No report, on any subject, ever, has been 100% correct.

2. The most likely, obvious explaination is usually what happenned. Sure, there is a chance that aliens from the planet Zoomba (your home planet) caused 9/11. Not very probable.

3. It is posts like this, from people like you, that make me ashamed to be classified as the same species

4. Yes, I read it. Yes it looks credible. Am I 100% positive it is 100% correct? Of course not. It is reasonable.
The only thing in this world that is 100% accurate is Life and Death.
Cut and Dried.
People will read and respond the way they want to
If the facts are 1+ 1 = 2 you will allways have the few who look at it and say that it is 11
You know, you can read that report a lot better without all that tin foil wrapped around your head. It might make more sense then.
Objectivity is what should be considered in forming a conclusion about the facts surrounding 9/11. The objective question I ask myself and others is this:

What benefit would our government have by destroying both the World Trace Centers, the Pentagon, and their fellow government employees if you truly believe they had a part in it?

The answer is NOTHING. Therefore the most logical conclusion is that the government had NOTHING to do with the affairs relating to 9/11. Although I don't fully trust our government I most certainly trust that they wouldn't do such an unthinkable thing than destroy our own American citizens on such a level as this.

You obviously have been watching too many Michael Moore movies. You might want to lay off the Al Gore flicks too. Next you'll be telling us that we are destroying our own planet by leading productive lives and the world will end next year.

"Help, the sky is falling!"

- Chicken Little
Why would our government do something that would 1 kill 3000 people and 2 send our economy into a tailspin? If you believe our government would do that, move to Cuba I think you will like it there.
I don't think you are a truth-seeker.

I think you are a Division - Maker.
For those of you that have not read the report the full report is 585 pages long. It can be downloaded for free from http://www.gpoaccess.gov/911/pdf/fullrep...

It does not explain what happened to building #7

*/*
so what if it is, what are you going to do? Bring the dead back? Arrest everyone in US government? I haven't the energy for all the propaganda that's going around right now. Powerful people are going to do horrable and wonderful things. There is not a lot we can do about it.
The fact that a conspiracy much different than the one giving to us is by our government is beyond elementary. You would have to refuse knowledge and education to keep from concluding the obvious.
The 11th of every month is truth day.

90% of the black money is in the bak's lockers. aren't the banks are abettors?

Answer:
90% of black money is abroad. Bamk lockers cannot hold much money. There are many channels by which Black money is laundered broad. The entire bofor kick back went to Italy. The iraq oil for food money also went abroad. Jaya lalitha purchased a Hotel in london for 230 crores. The present fasion of purchasing foreign companies is with the idea of keeping money abroad legitimately which the government of India cannot touch.Only fools keep their money in India.
Could you please explainf further as to what you are talking about?
Bank has no concern with contents in lockers. You can keep anything in any lockers. There are a lot of private lockers also. Railway also provide facility of cloak room at various stations. Lalu Parshad Yadav can not be abettor for black money in white suit cases in railway premises.
Bank lockers are rented out to customers. They can keep anything they like. Can you dictate a tenant what to keep in the rented house.

9/11 was an inside job?

Do you have a brain and agree?

No one can convince me that it wasn't a conspiracy. I don't care how much so-called evidence you have. It is impossible to convince me otherwise because you can't trust the governments out there. They lie and spread disinformation.

People who don't believe that it was staged say things like,

"If it was a conspiracy on a scale as huge as it was supposed to be, then how come no one has come forth and said that they PERSONALLY took part in the 9/11 attack?"

The reason why this is the case is because the government monitors people and threatens the people and their families from coming forward. It's as simple as that.

If a plane hit the pentagon, then where is the rest of the plane? People say you can't see the plane because the roof fell on top of the plane and it is covering the wreckage. Please. I've seen enough action movies and plane crashes on tv to know exactly what it should look like if a plane hits a building.
Answer:
No it wasn't.
Yeah 9-11 was a conspiracy carried out by the President himself.
9%26#92;11 was cornflake.
Check out the page for 911 mysteries. The download takes forever, but it's some interesting scientific theory.
yes
One person on that plane was B.Olson the lady who wrote an exposse on theClintons.

I think with the unbelievable leak intentionally done for retaliation, the three Border Patrol Agents thrown in prison and maligned for stopping illegal dope smugglers and risking their lives, the secrecy of forming the North American Union w/o the people's input, the detracting of Habeus Corpus, the redistributing of more %26 more power to the Adm %26 away from the people, the approval of out-sourcing jobs putting the middle-class in distress and the portraying of a bogus document as vital evidence in gaining approval to invade a country I don't see why the reality of 9/11 being staged to kick-off many of these moves is so hard to believe.
why people can't stop making a big deal out of 9-11.yes it was a disaster but can you look around people, there are catastrophes happening in the world much more bigger and disastrous that 9-11
well duhhh who doesent want to become a Dictator of course bush wanted it to happen.
All over the internet you see parodies and jokes on GWB's speeches, etc. They all have one thing in common. "I don't need EVIDENCE. I don't need FACTS. I'm above that." Hands up, class, if you can see a pattern forming??? You have no solid evidence one way or another. You are placing an opinion out as a fact, and say it is impossible to convince you otherwise.
Correct me if I'm wrong people, but this questioner *cou-hippy-ough* states:
*9/11 was set up by the US.
*The US government spreads lies and dis-information.
*Movies provide expert qualifications as to identifying wreckage.
*This person is a stupid w*nk stain.

Oh wait, I state that.

I'm not against debate, I promote Democracy, and free opinions. But even the government you denounce has the common sense to provide SOME evidence, false or otherwise. You cannot prove it one way or another, and, originality aside, you should put your idea out there and let people make up their own damn minds.

So in answer to your questions, yes, no, and the rest of the plane fell into the alien research station under the Pentagon, didn't Independence Day teach you anything???
No, I don't believe that it was a cospiracy, but on the other hand, I probably lack the intelligence to be able to reach the same conclusions as those so gifted as to be able to parrot any anti-American statement.

888-279-9221- Prize Lottery?

why are these people calling me everyday, leaving messages, and telling me I am in a Drawing for a Prize and a $20,000 Dollars????? Magazine Scam. AMD MORE to the Point How did they get my number???
These people have called me 20 or more times trying to get me to "subscribe" to their Magazine just to be entered into a lottery winning!?!?! These Idiots have Hung up on me also Several Times, isnt this Illegal overall???
This is also a Warning if you come across this number Tell them to Beat it!!
Answer:
Give it to your local phone company to act on.
move to missouri so you can get on the no call list. it's great living here in missouri and not getting any telemarketer calls.

if you don't want to move here, contact your congress person, etc. to see if they can enact that in your state as well.
If you didn't enter a lottery, it's a scam if they're trying to tell you you've won. In Indiana, we have a no-call list, run through the Attorney General's office. If you call them and get on the list, salespeople, fundraisers, and the like are not supposed to call. They made exceptions for groups like the Policemen's Fund, and for salespeople if you've bought from that store in the past 3 months, but other than those, if the people call you, they risk being fined. If someone calls me, even if they're on the list of exceptions, I just tell them I'm on the no-call list, thank them very much, and hang up.

86 timesmore likely to get killed by a gun in GB than in NYC? how is this possible?

I got this number from a yahoo news article. It said in NYC there were 590 gun deaths /8 mill people. In the Uk there were 45/53 million people.

To me, this number sounds fishy. I just cannot believe that this number is purely a function of gun control laws. Does anyone have any insights as to how these numbers are calculated, and why the nyc number is so much higher. I mean, statistically speaking, the difference in the two numbers are astronomical.
Answer:
Believe it.
Gun control works in the rest of the world.
We don't have 'love affairs' with things that can kill.
Yes, it is real. The US has an astronomical number of gun deaths compared to other countries. It is a national disgrace and ongoing tragedy.

We have a culture of killing.

It's not just the presence of guns though. Canada has a lot of gun ownership without the murders. And Switzerland is the most heavily armed country in the world and has a very low murder rate.

but one has to wonder how wise it is to put so many guns in the hands of people who are so prone to kill each other.
but what is the murder ratio? because knives kill more people than guns in the US (check that on Google, it will amaze you,) Gun control is a media point that has no solution between two hyped political factions (liberal and conservative), just like abortion and gay marriage, there is, more will there ever be a final answer, the same with gun control, yes guns are used to kill, but criminals will always get them (there criminals). Knives take many more lives, but thats not a hot button argument. as to the out of wack ratio? NYC is a hard city, The UK is a whole different world.
Compare us to nearly any other industrialized nation, we have more gun related deaths per year by a wide margin. Its not even close.
You're talking about one major city compared to an entire country. Population density would be the biggest differance. I'd think anyways. Like shoving 20 mice into a small cage and 20 in someones backyard, then asking why the the ones in the cage fight soo much more than in the yard..

Just a thought anyways..
Why did it take police three hours to stop one shooter? Is not true, that our police train endless amounts of hours for these kind of situations? What do Americans pay taxes for? If the police are not going to "Protect and serve" then why are the governments and laws shaped in such a way that people cannot protect themseleves? Should our children really fear going to school? If government takes the 2nd amendment, then this gets alot worse NOT better.

Eyewitness Matt Kazee said that it was a full two to three hours after the shootings began that loudspeakers installed around the campus were used to warn students to stay indoors and that a shooter was on the loose.
Quite how the killer was afforded so much time before any action was taken to stop him is baffling, especially considering the fact that the campus, according to Kazee, was crawling with police before the event happened due to numerous bomb threats that had been phoned in last week.
The shootings came three days after a bomb threat Friday forced the cancellation of classes in three buildings, WDBJ in Roanoke reported. Also, the 100,000-square-foot Torgersen Hall was evacuated April 2 after police received a written bomb threat, The Roanoke Times reported.
CNN quoted a student who was outraged at the delay in identifying and stopping the killer.
"What happened today this was ridiculous. And I don't know what happened or what was going through this guy's mind," student Jason Piatt told CNN. "But I'm pretty outraged and I'll say on the record I'm pretty outraged that someone died in a shooting in a dorm at 7 o'clock in the morning and the first e-mail about it 鈥?no mention of locking down campus, no mention of canceling classes 鈥?they just mention that they're investigating a shooting two hours later at 9:22."
He added: "That's pretty ridiculous and meanwhile, while they're sending out that e-mail, 22 more people got killed."
Media reports their opinion, not always true facts. Besides you can bet on the fact that the Democrats is going to jump all over this and blow things way out of sight, since they want to disarm America, to make it easier for them to force us to eat out of their dumpsters. I have already noticed several slurs about Bush being the blame, just goes to show intelligence of the other party. As for as statistics, anything can be put on paper, does not make them true in one way or the other. Regardless of statistics, I would still rather be able to protect my home, family and all property from a criminal, and we need to have the means to do so.
Well the problem is you have to add up all gun deaths in the US not just NYC..this is fishy statistics....NY did not even have the most gun deaths as the largest city....At least St. Louis and Baltimore among others had more...and neither are half the size of NY.
Because in the UK only criminals can get hold of guns.
Normal people are unable to defend themselves, or pull a weapon to deter the killer. Those who do, like Tony Martin, are unfairly imprisoned.
There's more organised crime here thanks to useless laws and unregulated immigration.
